I don't see why those things have to be mutually exclusive.
[The melody goes simple as he answers, granted, but he does continue with what he's doing; he isn't bothered by Iago's presence any, and if he minded having an audience he wouldn't be doing this out in the open, fullstop.]
I don't know if I'd say I enjoy it. I always found lessons terribly boring, but practice was something to do with myself when there was nothing else. I dislike being idle.
[...]
I suppose it's something familiar, at least. I can't do what I normally do here, after all.
[He says, with all affection. His sister is such a bitch and he loves her.]
She tended to make most of the decisions, but I didn't particularly mind that back then. She was my favorite person and I wanted to be just like her for a while. Our parents were hard on mistakes and let us know early that certain things weren't going to be tolerated, but for the most part they let us do as we pleased as long as we didn't break anything.
I picked up several of my current pastimes when I was younger. Hunting monsters, as well as things like this. I've always been active. Idleness was never tolerated.
[He shrugs a bit.]
I grew up near the castle. There's an area of the capital reserved for nobility; I've lived there for most of my life. Always well-provided for. All of our titles and assets were transferred to me when our parents died; I've held claim to them since.
A certain degree of conduct and decorum is required to keep such things. No public scandals, nothing that would cast you or your family line into disgrace.
Bluntly put, I wouldn't trust her with it either.
[...SOMEHOW, HE'S THE WELL-BEHAVED ONE BETWEEN THEM.]
Oh, of course she wasn't. But I do provide for her - I'm not completely heartless - and one of our servants keeps an eye on her while I'm away. So it works out well enough.

And what brings you out here?

[He hasn't heard anyone else play, anyway...]
Do you enjoy it?
[He moves a bit so he can actually watch the keys as Cumore plays, though doesn't get any closer than that.]

[...You are watching this from a weird angle, sir.]
I'm going to take a guess and assume you've never played.

[Hmm...]
Was it a long time ago that you learned to play?

[Not like it really matters, but he's bored and you're bored and there's no one else around, so why not.]

Is there anything in particular you would want to know...?

Your sister is the eldest, correct? Why did you inherit everything?

Bluntly put, I wouldn't trust her with it either.

I imagine she wasn't pleased at all.

[can you imagine though..........]

[Alexei would just actually die, most likely.]
She's never had any interest in such things, though, no. Which is fine - we don't have to work, should we choose not to.

That sounds dreadfully boring. [Not working, he means.] Your sister's content with that, though?
[what does she do all day??]

I would ask you to do likewise, but I imagine you would prefer not to tell me.
