[The trial was a mess, so Iago's taken to shutting himself in his room and generally just avoiding everyone, particularly a certain someone who just so happens to have the room right next door, because Iago's luck wasn't terrible enough already, apparently.
He's in and he'll get the door not long after Cumore knocks, allowing him in. He gestures to the room as a whole; make yourself at home while he locks the door.]
Cumore. How are you doing?
[He sounds put-together at least, and his room isn't looking like too much of a disaster zone. There might be a few books he might have missed picking up after flinging them at the walls, but shh, it's fine. Iago's missing the circlet he usually wears behind his head, but that's sitting on the desk.]
...Decently enough. As well as can be expected, at least.
[He notes the lack of circlet, though he doesn't seem too inclined to comment on it for once in his life; he'll find somewhere to sit readily enough, at least.]
Honestly, I'm just wondering if that was finally enough of a disaster to get people to stop treating this like it's anything but a stupid game we're being made to play for others' entertainment.
I doubt it. We're dealing with entirely too many idiots for that.
[He folds his arms, tapping a nail against his gauntlet.]
Most of them are going to continue to do exactly what our captors want them to do. By the time the next body turns up, many of them will have already moved on from how horrid this was and will do the exact same thing all over again with no complaints.
Teru Mikami likes to frame his own personal idiocy as conviction. I'm not entirely certain that makes it much better; there's nothing quite like an idiot that's out to prove something.
He said something about it being in my best interests to just let him do it. As though I would stop him, at this point?
The only reason I didn't point that out when I spoke to him last night is I promised not to insult him. I insulted him anyway, a little, but I tried to keep it to a minimum.
Oh, certainly not. I suppose they likely would have continued floundering without his sacrifice, but taking her up on such an offer... I thought he'd at least have the common sense to let Teru Mikami take the bait.
[Self-sacrificing people gonna self-sacrifice, he supposes.]
I wonder if they would have allowed the culprit to volunteer like he was trying to. They couldn't refuse without spoiling their little game, after all.
I'm curious about that as well. I imagine they would have if there were no other options - but that may only be because he apparently didn't remember killing her and I imagine they would have found it funny to let him "sacrifice" himself for a clue that would point toward his involvement.
Either way, hopefully they'll have calmed themselves slightly with regards to the incentive next week. I have difficulty imagining it getting much worse than it has been for the past couple of weeks.

Yourself?

I feel the same way. That trial was a disaster, but there's nothing to do but attempt to move on.
[Even though he'd greatly appreciate spending a few more days being pissed as hell, it's!!! fine!!!!!]

I did find it interesting that he was all too willing to let Seteth take the hint, however.

Seteth wasn't exactly being a beacon of good decisions either.

[But that's dumb; who the hell runs a murdergame based on despair, anyway.]
I asked them if the source of their power is human souls, incidentally. I'm told it's something worse.

[just. give him a moment to press a hand to his forehead like he's fighting off a headache...]
I imagine they wouldn't give you any information beyond that?

[...Yeah.]
I genuinely don't find her too terrible to speak to, however. I admittedly don't think she knows what to do with me half the time.

[so yeah, everything...]

She does seem the sort to get riled up easily if she believes someone's being condescending...

Well, yes - I'm not that difficult to read, however.

I should have tried to claim it myself.
